Overview

Miniature scenes on a static vertical movement

The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Art, reference AT114.40.AA.UD.A, in an 18-carat rose gold case, 50 mm across and 25 mm high. Its dial of 18-carat rose gold and titanium carries 3D rose gold skulls, on a blue alligator strap with an 18-carat rose gold deployant buckle. This version is a pièce unique.

The subject is a group of skulls with cabochon ruby eyes on an aventurine base.

Astronomia Art takes the vertical Astronomia movement and holds it still, so that large miniature figures and scenes can stand between its four arms. Jacob & Co. says its craftspeople make, finish and paint the miniatures by hand. The dial is off-centre and sits at the end of one arm.

Hand-wound calibre JCAM25 has 384 components and a 60-hour power reserve. A double-axis flying tourbillon hangs from the end of one arm, held in an openworked carriage by a single attachment point. A 1 ct diamond moon and a blue-lacquered magnesium globe also turn on their own axes.
