Overview
A dragon coiled around a fixed movement
The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Dragon, reference AT112.60.DR.UA.A, in a 950 platinum case with sapphire side panes, 50 mm across and 25 mm high. Its openworked titanium dial sits off-centre, on a blue alligator leather strap with a 950 platinum and titanium deployant clasp. This version is a pièce unique.
The platform base is PVD-blue titanium with rose gold-printed constellations. Case and caseback are 950 platinum, and the crafted dragon is 18-carat rose gold with ruby eyes.
Jacob & Co. built the Astronomia as a vertical, rotating movement. For the Dragon it fixed that movement in place, which leaves room for a large three-dimensional dragon between the four satellite arms. Like every Astronomia, it models a solar system: the Earth is a magnesium globe and the moon is a white diamond. The dragon is coiled around the movement and is made and finished by hand.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM25 is the non-spinning version of the Astronomia calibre. It has 384 components and a 60-hour power reserve. The double-axis tourbillon hangs from one arm in an openworked carriage with a single attachment point, which makes it a flying tourbillon.
