Overview

A vertical platform that turns in 10 minutes

The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Solar Constellations, reference AS900.40.BD.BD.A, in an 18-carat rose gold case with sapphire side panes, 45.5 mm across and 21 mm high. It is set with 144 baguette white diamonds (≈8.15 ct) and has an openworked titanium hour and minute dial, on a blue alligator leather strap with an 18-carat rose gold folding clasp.

A vertical platform rises from the dial and makes a full turn every 10 minutes. Jacob & Co. says this constant motion drives every function and indication of the movement. The base beneath the platform turns counterclockwise, also in 10 minutes.

Hand-wound calibre JCAM19 has 447 components and a 48-hour power reserve. A flying tourbillon hangs at the end of one satellite arm and turns in one minute. Carried by the platform, it gains a second axis with a 10-minute period. The hour and minute dial sits on another arm. Jacob & Co. describes a patented differential that turns the dial against the platform at the same speed, so it stays upright and readable. A magnesium Earth globe turns in 60 seconds. This version is limited to 18 pieces.
