Overview
A movement that turns once a minute
The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Regulator, reference AR200.30.AA.AC.A, in an 18-carat white gold and single-block sapphire caseband case, 43 mm across and 18.30 mm high. Its sub-dials are domed green polycarbonate with white printed scales, on a green alligator leather strap with an 18-carat white gold deployment buckle.
Green polycarbonate carries through the sub-dials and the strap. The case, caseback and deployment buckle are 18-carat white gold.
Like every Astronomia, this watch carries its movement on a vertical, three-dimensional, rotating platform. Here the platform makes one full turn in 60 seconds, so the whole movement can be read as a seconds indicator. Hours and minutes have their own off-centre sub-dials, in the manner of a regulator. They are fixed to the platform and turn with it, and a differential system keeps them upright.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM56 has 552 components and a 28-hour power reserve. A flying tourbillon on the third arm turns once a minute on its own axis and once a minute with the platform. Jacob & Co. added a constant force device to steady the energy reaching the movement. This version is limited to 99 pieces.
