Overview
Automatic flyback chronograph in Red Quartz TPT® and Carbon TPT®
Launched in 2007 and developed with Felipe Massa, the RM 011 was Richard Mille’s first flyback chronograph. The calibre RMAC1 is an automatic chronograph with a variable-geometry rotor; the flyback function resets without stopping, and the movement also carries a countdown function and an annual calendar with oversize date.
This execution combines Red Quartz TPT® with Carbon TPT®. Quartz TPT® is produced by the same layering process as Carbon TPT® but from silica threads, which allows colour to be introduced. Richard Mille produced the RM 011 in titanium, gold and its proprietary materials including ceramic, Carbon TPT®, silicon nitride and Red Quartz TPT®.

Design and engineering
- Red Quartz TPT® and Carbon TPT®Quartz TPT® is made by an identical layering process to Carbon TPT® but from silica threads, permitting colour. Machining across the layers produces a striated pattern that differs between cases.

- Annual calendar with oversize dateOversize date at 12 o’clock and month indicator between 4 and 5 o’clock.
- Countdown timer60-minute countdown at 9 o’clock, with a 12-hour totaliser at 6 o’clock and running seconds at 3 o’clock.
- Case and movement mountingAssembled with 20 grade 5 titanium spline screws and abrasion-resistant 316L stainless steel washers; the movement is mounted on rubber O-ring seals with shock-resistant silent blocks.
